PermaShelter Opens Factory in Haiti

The PermaShelter factory complex is located inside of Terminal Abraham in Carrefour, Ouest Haiti.  By locating our factory and warehouse inside of a shipping port, we have accomplished several primary objectives:

1. Reduce time to market of materials and supplies by cutting transportation, customs clearance, and unloading times;
2. Ensure adequate security and protection of materials and supplies;
3. Facilitate ground transportation to Carrefour, Leogane, Jacmel, Port-au-Prince, and other neighboring areas that were badly affected by the earthquake;
4. Provide access to a highly skilled and readily accessible workforce drawing from Carrefour, Port-au-Prince, and other neighboring areas.

The PermaShelter factory is fully operational and is currently producing transitional shelters and other homes in satisfaction of major contracts with the NGOs and nonprofits that are working to rebuild Haiti.  PermaShelter S.A. uses skilled and semi-skilled Haitian workers to build and assemble homes.  Harbor Homes and PermaShelter are dedicated to improving the local economy--giving back to those communities in which we work.
