SOUTH GEORGIA COMPANY’S OUTLAST PRODUCTSTM DIVISION POISED TO SEND NON-FOOD ITEM RELIEF SUPPLIES TO HAITI

Hurricane Tomas Exacerbates Relief Efforts and Extends Need for Non-Food Item (NFI) Supplies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 6, 2010 – The Outlast ProductsTM division of Harbor Homes, LLC reported today that it has seen an uptick in demand from relief organizations in Haiti for non-food item relief supplies, commonly known as NFIs. The heavy rains and unsanitary conditions accompanying Hurricane Tomas have damaged many items that have been provided to residents of Haiti in the months following the devastating earthquake last spring.

According to Matt Williams, Marketing Director for Harbor Homes, “NFIs include such items as blankets, tarps, shovels, cook kits, and personal care items. These items are essential in establishing and maintaining a safe and sanitary standard of living for persons displaced by natural disasters—such as is the case for nearly 2 million Haitian residents.”

Harbor Homes, LLC manufacturers, distributes, and assembles transitional shelters (t-shelters) in Haiti and throughout the Caribbean and Central America under the PermaShelterTM brand. The Outlast ProductsTM line developed naturally out of the company’s other disaster relief activities. “We saw that there was a real need to provide these non-food item disaster relief supplies, and we already had relationship with many of the manufacturers of these products. Plus, including these supplies along with our regular shipments of transitional housing allows us to provide these NFIs at a lower cost and/or at a higher quality than is generally available through other sources,” said Harbor Homes CEO Lucas Stewart.

According to Harbor Homes VP Matthew Batson, “Logistics constitutes about 80% of all relief efforts, and proper logistics management can make a big difference in the quality, speed, effort, and cost associated in bringing relief materials to those who are most affected in disaster situations. Relief agencies, therefore, prefer to invest in organizations that provide materials quickly, efficiently, and at optimum prices. Harbor Homes has consistently demonstrated an ability to overcome challenges associated with supply chain management and logistics, as evidenced by our company’s $153 million contract to provide relief housing to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). We do what it takes to get relief supplies to where they are needed.”

The Harbor Homes family of companies includes the PermaShelterTM, Intrepid StructuresTM, and Outlast Emergency ProductsTM brands. Harbor Homes manufactures, delivers, and assembles a wide range of disaster relief housing, field support structures, and other non-food item (NFI) relief supplies throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
